  • Gyrocompass heading repeater at emergency steering position (*Approved alternatives permitted*)
  • Gyrocompass heading repeaters (360 degrees) (*Only if possible for ships <1,600 GT*)
  • Indicators (rudder, propeller, thrust, pitch & operational mode) (*Approved alternatives permitted*)
  • Heading or Track Control System (HCS/Autopilot) (*Approved alternatives permitted*)

 

Passenger ships

  • Includes all cargo ship requirements, plus:
  • 3 GHz RADAR including ATA or ARPA (S-band) (*Minimum RADAR plotting functionality for ships 500-10,000 GT: ATA*)

Ships between 3,000 and 9,999 GT

Cargo & Passenger ships

  • Same as previous classes with additions:
  • Rate of Turn indicator (ROT) (*Approved alternatives permitted*)

Ships between 10,000 and 49,999 GT

Cargo & Passenger ships

  • Same as previous classes, with enhanced equipment requirements:
  • Speed & Distance Measuring Device (SDME) – Speed Over Ground (*Approved alternatives permitted*)

Ships 50,000 GT and upwards

Cargo & Passenger ships

  • All previous requirements with no additional class-specific additions.
